login PW never asked, why?

I dont know how iv managed it but my mint 17.1 never asks for my account PW , at boot it show the login screen but if i click on my account name it loads it straight up (no PW asked).

I want the PW requirement back.

I have not got auto login set. I do have a user PW and iv tried changing it but still dont ask for PW at login. I cant find any setting in cinnamon for "remember login password" and iv checked the keyring and there is just a saved smb NAS password no user login.

This should be easy to find, maybe im just loosing it.

Cheers all.

Have a look how to introduce a new user?
Then you should find where is the setup for the existing user.
On Xubuntu, it is described https://wiki.ubuntuusers.de/Benutzer...ruppen_Xubuntu

@ OP - try to get in Root account and get your account to heve to re-enter a new password. You may need to "expire" the old one...

Yes, you did what the USER (other "you ;) ) had to do...
let's see....
int the file /etc/mdm/mdm.conf, edit the following AutomaticLoginEnable - I suspect it's set to true...

JackDinn 12-22-2015 12:05 PM

iv got 2 entries in there (greg being my account):-

AutomaticLoginEnable=false

AutomaticLogin=greg

Trying commenting the second line.

already done, and didn't work :(

But its not an auto login as it shows the login display whereas auto login would just load my DE straight away

Don't mean to belittle you, but you did reboot afterwards, just in case, right?:)
