login problem with MCR
 

I have a linux 64 bit pc with opensuse 13.1 KDE 4, matlab R2013a and MCR 8.1 64 bit. one of my application needs MCR. after installing the MCR and setting the path in the bash file with emacs, if I logoff or restart my pc, i can not login again to my account. i can login through other accounts to access my account. if I disable the path of MCR in the bash file I am able to login through my account again. I started the recovery mode and install all of updates. in the recovery mode when I started with the KDE 3 instead of default I got this massage right after login '' nspluginscan crashed''.
please help.

there is likely no support for the NEW software versions in 13.1

install the older OpenSUSE 12.3
BUT be aware that 12.3 will go End Of Life in ONLY 140 DAYS

even though it is in the software repos 3 is OLD


now i do not use the closed source proprietary "Matlab"
just the Open source version " Octave"
and Octave is in the opensuse repos , along with a QT based GUI

the requirements page for the CURRENT 2014 state
SELD 11 sp3 ( the non free SUSE Enterprise Linux Desktop service pack 3 )

or
RHEL 6 ( or the free CentOS 6 )

for SUSE i would try OpenSSE 12.3 , BUT you might have to use the VERY DEAD and never to be supported OpenSUSE 11.4
( using a dead and unsupported OS is NEVER A GOOD IDEA !!!!! )


the current matlab also recommends the OLD debian 6 when the current is 7.2
and the unsupported Ubuntu 12.04 when the current is 16.04


if you do NOT have to stay with OpenSUSE 13 i would install the still SUPPORTED CentOS 6.5

cent6 still has 5 years of support

well if you MUST stay with a Operating system NOT supported by Mathworks....
Have fun and learn to love the problems , they will only get worse .

i would not

I would dual boot with CentOS 6.5
and use last years matlab on CentOS 6.5
