Login Problem

I have just finished installing Linux, and I didnt relise that I NEED to create a username and password. I only typed in a a password in the Admin boot part.

Now when It takes me to the screen that I should type in a user name, I dont know what to do ?!

Isnt there a admin login like in windows XP.

Also, I tried to format my hard disk and try reinstalling it, but I dont know what boot disk to use. I did make a boot diskette in the installation, but I dont know how the linux dos commands work.

What should I do ?

The username is "root".
Enter the password you chose during installation. If you installed GNOME or KDE then type "startx" to start one up, and then add a user account for yourself. If you didn't install GNOME or KDE then type this for help on adding a new user "man adduser".
You should use the account you created instead of root, and then if you ever need root's privileges while your logged in as the other account type "su root" and then it will ask you for you password.
