Login Message following MOTD
I've been looking through the forums looking for the answer to my question, and although I learned a lot, I didn't see an answer to this.
I am familiar with /etc/issue and /etc/motd as login message files, but I've recently installed Slackware 9.0 and I also get a noteworthy maxim following the MOTD. I enjoy realigning myself with the Zen conciousness, but not when I log into my machine. Where is this script coming from? Why don't I have a /etc/bashrc file? Thanks! |
Check /etc/profile.d.

I believe the thingy is called fortune. Use pkgtool to remove it.

I found it! Thanks.
It looks like /etc/profile tells all the shell scripts in /etc/profile.d/ to run. |
And, actually, it is part of a package called bsd-games, which I don't want to remove, so I'm just going to remove the scripts (one is .csh and the other is .sh, for different kinds of shells?).

Somehow the confused side of me thought that this was the Slackware forum... must be getting sleepy :p
