Logging into another terminal

i left a terminal at work running a program is there anyway i can log into to that terminal or take over to see the results of the process and continue it.

I left a yum installation going at work.

couldn't you just check if packages are installed with rpm -q, or check /var/log/yum.log.

I guess I could but I would still like to know how to switch to that open terminal if possible

It may not help in this situation, but in the future you may want to use the screen command. It launches a terminal window that you can then disconnect and pick up from any other terminal session (like SSH).

try using vnc and vnc server. you can log in from home to your work pc securely using ssh -d. see 'man ssh' and the info on secure connections at
