Logging in rhel5

Hey guys,
I was wondering if there was a way to ensure the following are logged through some commands in RHEL 5.

account creation and maintenance
log-in and log-out activity (success and failures)
Successful or unsuccessful attempts to access files
Remote access activity

I'm not sure if this is done by default in /var/log. If any one could help me, it would be great.
Thanks

Here's some help

I don't know a bunch of commands of the top of my head....
One command I do know is adduser. Type in
Code:

man adduser
for more info. If you hit enter with the man page displayed, you can find more info and likely more commands. Also, there is a series called Linux Toolbox. This book is where I originally got the
Code:

adduser
from is SUSE Linux Toolbox. (I don't have it for reference on me) I reccomend you get Fedora\Red Hat Toolbox. These books are loaded with commands and details organized by function. It is a must-have for me.
