Loggin into Mandrake
Hi,
After much work, finally the mandrake machine said the following: "Telling init to go into single user mode: INIT: going into single user Give root password for mainteance (or type Control D fo normal startup)" I have a passowrd bu tit does not work Because I got: Login incorrect Any ideas please Thank you Regards Ram:newbie: |
The password you need to enter is the root password, which you set during the install, not the password for your normal user account. You must type it exactly as you entered it during the install -- it is case sensitive. Make sure you don't have caps lock on while you're typing it.
If it still doesn't work, type 'e' at the GRUB menu to edit your kernel command line and append init=/bin/bash to the kernel command line. Then remount the root filesystem read-write and use passwd to change the root password. You can also use a live CD, but then you'll need to mount your disk and edit your shadow file (the encrypted password is the second field of /etc/shadow, lkeaving it blank will allow a login with no password). |
