Log on problem

Hi All Again

I can not log onto my linux redhat system, and i can know how this happened.

Can some one help me urgently.

You will need to give a lot more information than that, unfortunately.

For starters, what exactly happens when you attempt to log in? Or is it a case where you have simply forgotten the correct password?

It boots up to the log on screen, but very time you enter a user name and press enter it rolls back to the screen asking for a user name.

Well obviously, it doesn't recognize the username and/or password. Are you sure you are using the rightt username and password?

No the user name and password are right but, it does not accept the account?
The the screen just keeps asking for the user name all the time.

can you log in as root?

@ David330:Have you checked your caps lock key or tried a blank password. After that it would be to try root access, or contact your administrator.

@Helloworldlinux: Have you allowed the removing list prompt to complete what it is doing, you may be getting that error from killing the process to early, if you let it complete your problem may be fixed, other wise, try your error with Google or the search feature on this forum.

It sounds like the user name you're entering is wrong somehow. Log in as root and check the user info.
