Location of bootup messages?

I just had a really quick question - Where is the file that stores the bootup messages (by bootup messages (I think that's what they're called), I mean the messages you get upon starting up linux that tell what drivers are being loaded, etc.)? Thanks.

type "dmesg" to get them.

but they are stored in /var/log/

Damn. I'm not sure. I know you can get a replay of most of it with 'dmesg', though. It'd probably be somewhere in /var.
