whenever i log into gnome, i get this message saying localhost.localdomain blah is not right, saying if i put in localhost.localdomain in /etc/hosts it will function but this is what my /etc/hosts says

# Do not remove the following line, or various programs
# that require network functionality will fail.
localhost.localdomain

???? how do i get rid of that

also when i start up linux, i get this message

bringing up eth0, and then it tells me it failed and it cant get the ip.

the line should say
Code:

127.0.0.1    localhost localhost.localdomain
sounds like you're trying to use dhcpd for ethernet, see your other thread.
