Loadlin installation problem

hi all.

Excusme, but I'm trying to install Slackware LInux without any Cdrom or floppy or pendrives.

I tried to use Loadlin.

I've read many docs about that. put the respectives loadlin.exe, initrd.img and bzimage files in c:\loadlin directory.

Y typed the next command.

loadlin zimage rw root=/dev/ram initrd=initrd.img load_ramdisk=1
but the installation procces don't work.

I recived the next message.

Kernel panic: VFS: unable to mount root fs on 03:41

If some body could help. I will appreciate, thank you.

Could it be you are loading "zimage" instead of "bzimage"?

It would be hard to get anybody to use loadlin today because one has to boot from a Dos which isn't used by Windows since Win2k. Modern Windows runs at a protected mode and doesn't like to disappear to pass the control of the PC to a Linux.

Still Loadlin should work if you are running Dos in real mode and have all the ncessary files available.

You can break away from the dark ages by investing into a CDrive which can immediately bring you to the technlogy front with Slackware 11 or a Slax 5 as they are freely available as iso CD image with which you can burn into bootable CDs.

thank you for your help.

Excuse, I typed

loadlin bzimage rw root=/dev/ram initrd=initrd.img load_ramdisk=1

--> bzimage not zimage on my DOS Shell.

I restart on ms-dos mode from my win98 partition.
And i have all files that "manual.txt" and "faq.txt" comments.

I really don't understand what is wrong if I followed all Previous steps to the Installation.
