loading .Xmodmap

Hi there. I use USB MS intellimouse explorer 5 button mouse..

I need to load xmodmap -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5" when I start up gnome.

I tried this:

in .xinitrc there's this:

usermodmap=$HOME/.Xmodmap
if [ -f $usermodmap ]; then
xmodmap $usermodmap
fi

so I took the liberty and created a .Xmodmap file in my home directory, and added -e "pointer = 1 2 3 6 7 4 5"

but it does not work, and I cannot figure out why!

I would prefer to use this "clean" method, rather than a .bashrc addition..

ideas, ppl?

hi there..

i am not sure why is not working...
i have the line for the mouse direct in my .xsession file...

exec xmodmap -e "pointer = 3 2 1 4 5" # left-handed mouse

and it works..
i would say that is also a clean solution..

hope it helps..

regards

a quick ls -a tells me I don't have a .xsession

I'm guessing I should make one and put a similar line of code in there...
