Loading modules
Well, I'm moving this thread myself to the newbie one cause obviously this is where I should have put it. (
http://www.linuxquestions.org/questi...threadid=46073 ) Anyway, here's a sumary. I went to upgrade to the new 2.4.20 kernel from the 2.4.18 and in the process I somehow managed to lose suport for my audio. I think that when I was configuring it I told it to load as a module and not to be compiled in. The problem is that when I boot up it complains to me that it can't find the i810_audio module (along with the USB and 1394 ones). Barring a recompile of the kernel, how can I get these modules loaded up and running. I see that there is a /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-24.8.0/drivers/sound/i810_audio.c file, but there is no /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/audio/810_audio.o file (nor a /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/audio directory for that matter). At what point in the process was I supposed to compile my own driver, how do I do it, and how do I make it a permant vs temorary solution? Thanks |
