Loading modules

Well, I'm moving this thread myself to the newbie one cause obviously this is where I should have put it. (

Anyway, here's a sumary. I went to upgrade to the new 2.4.20 kernel from the 2.4.18 and in the process I somehow managed to lose suport for my audio. I think that when I was configuring it I told it to load as a module and not to be compiled in. The problem is that when I boot up it complains to me that it can't find the i810_audio module (along with the USB and 1394 ones). Barring a recompile of the kernel, how can I get these modules loaded up and running. I see that there is a /usr/src/linux-2.4.18-24.8.0/drivers/sound/i810_audio.c file, but there is no /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/audio/810_audio.o file (nor a /lib/modules/2.4.20/kernel/drivers/audio directory for that matter). At what point in the process was I supposed to compile my own driver, how do I do it, and how do I make it a permant vs temorary solution? Thanks

And that was your mistake. Now this counts as a double post which is against our rules. If you felt this belonged in another forum then you should have asked Finegan who is the moderator that was replying to your other same identical post and problem in Hardware to move it if he felt necessary.

So this one will be closed and the other should continue.
