Loading Beryl Issue

I installed Beryl with:

Code:

# ./configure
# make
# make install

When I type beryl at the terminal, the whole screen goes completely white and there is nothing else I can do after that but force a reboot. This happens both with my normal user and the root account.

Any idea as to what I'm doing wrong here?

Yup... But beryl is no longer in development. It has merged with compiz, and there are packages available for all the major distributions. So you don't need to compile it yourself. And after you compiled it you're only half way done, so it would be much better if you just install it the way your distro intended you to.
Which distro do you use? (It would be good to add this to your LQ profile).

Using Fedora 8, yeah good idea I'll add it to my profile.

If Beryl is no longer under development, are there any equivalents to Beryl?

Else, what to do?
