Smile Loading a Linux distro onto a Hudl device

Hello one and all,
I am a newbie as im sure you all can see and tell. Now thats out of the way my problem: Im wanting to load a linux distro onto my hudl device.
My OS on my laptop is Ubuntu 14.04 LTS which i have recently navigated to. I have to say Linux is the one for me. Ive spent years on windows and feel like ive been let out of prison moving onto Linux.

Im still a basic member of the Linux community. I have enrolled at a local university to start in computer programming (basics) but i like to learn fast.

So thats the blah blah....

Any help would be greatly appreciated and i appologise in advance if this thread is in the wrong place or it has been asked and solved before. (i didnt find anything in the search results)

In addition after some research i have come across the Linux Installer app on Google Play. However for this i need to root my device. Not an issue with my Samsung Galaxy s4 however the Hudl is proving to be somewhat trickier. Ive searched around and come up with some promising pages however i may be slightly out of my depth technically.
Any insight into this or a simpler explanation would be greatly appreciated.

I'm afraid this is an area in which I have no expertise. I am certain that someone which more experience will come along an educate us both.
