Load Gnome to Centos 5 Server install

Hi Guys. I'm running Centos 5 server as virtual machine on my VMWare installation. As I haven't received the book I've ordered on managing Centos 5 server yet I thought I would install Gnome desktop to view the system. I've installed it but haven't the faintest idea how to load it.

A long time ago I use to load windows from a DOS prompt by typing win. I tired gnome and enter to no avail. Can someone be kind enough to advise me how to load Gnome desktop from the command prompt.

Many Thanks
Andy

You should review the yum guide available on the CentOS and use groupinstall;

http://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/yum/

yum grouplist

yum groupinstall "GNOME Desktop Environment"

startx

Once you have it installed, run startx to start the X server, which should load GNOME.

Nope not really, this is the gnome not Windows. Now it is time to explore and learn.
