Load "GLX" or Load libglx.so???

Whats the difference between Load "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so" and Load "glx" ???

Heres my xorg.conf after intalling nvidia 8xxx driver:

Code:
Section "Module"
    Load "dbe" # Double-Buffering Extension
Load "v4l" # Video for Linux
    Load "extmod"
    Load "type1"
    Load "freetype"
    Load "/usr/X11R6/lib/modules/extensions/nvidia/libglx.so"
EndSection

Hi

glx is simply the graphics rendering engine. Loading nvidia glx means that the nvidia driver will be handling the glx processes. Without the nvidia driver, another module would handle that task and probably not provide DRI using CPU resources instead.

Hope this helps

You can use either. Use the path if libglx.so is in a non-standard place otherwise if you installed the driver in the correct place in your filesystem then simply using glx will work fine.

If you have nVidia card you have to use:
Load "GLX"
and
Driver "nvidia"
(not "nv") in section 'Device'
and you have to remove the line:
Load "DRI"
according to the user guide (look for it somewhere in /usr/share/doc/)
