Unhappy live updates

can anybody help me when i try to do live updates the os system says check network settings or cable connection

What OS are you using? How are you attempting the updates (CLI or GUI)? How are you connected to network?

When this happens are you using Wireless or are you using a hard link connection?

If you are using wireless try using a network cable and see if that helps.

You need to give us much more information. For starters:
1. What kind of connection are you using (wired/wireless)?
2. Are you using a router?
3. Can you browse websites, in other words are the connection problems only related to yum updates?
