Live Distro that Could be used for DEV

I am fairly new to linux and i want to get into some moderate development. I have a 2gig usb drive and i was wondering if there is a live distro out there that i could use for this purpose. That way i could work on things when ever i am at a computer. Any feed back would be helpful, If you guys think the best thing for me to do is just install a distro which one would you all recommend for someone who is new to linux and want to get involved on the development side of things. Thanks.

Basically, suitability for your purpose comes down to two things:

1) does it support your usb thingy
(for i in distros: answer("dunno"))
Knoppix probably does--it supports anything and the kitchen sink

2) does it have the tools you need
SuSE, most notably, doesn't have gcc. I wouldn't know about other programming languages.

I would suspect that a gentoo live cd has a lot of dev tools, but gentoo isn't the most newbie-friendly distro in the world.

In any case, look at the distro package index.
