I am under impression that you can install programs on the live cd version of linux.
You can install programs from the live cd to the hd,you can't/don't install anything because the dvd/cd version of Knoppix 4 is a ROM.

i was wondering that do ihave install all the softwares everytime i reboot to livecd Linux or they are stored somewhere on my pc.
You can install Knoppix in your harddisk. Iam using Knoppix 3.6 so its "knx2hd" for me to install it onto the hd. You can see
