Live CD options

1. Is there any option that allows the modified environment of a Live CD to be installed to the hard disk? To elaborate : Say I use the live CD, then uninstall certain apps by using the app manager, now can this modified environment be installed to the hard disk rather than the original? If yes, how.

2. Is there any live CD that allows the packages to be selected/deselected during hard disk installation?

Purpose : I am trying to squeeze an installation into a 1GB partition, and while DSL and Puppy can be installed, they are too basic to start off and having to download many apps everytime I have to redo the installation is not attractive.

The process of changing a liveCD is called remastering. Research how to remaster a liveCD on google.

I guess I'll have to go with the Puppy.
