live cd?????
 
can i create a home directory on my HDD and acces and use that directory with a live cd?????

what if i use another live cd??? like say i use knoppix live cd........and install firefox to my homedirectory, then i want to try another lice cd out...............will that distro be able to launch firefox??????

You should be able to. You just have to mount your HDD after you have your live CD booted. You should be able to use pretty much any live CD distro as the filesystems are not distro specific. However, if you expect to run programs of the HDD, they need to be Linux programs. I'm not sure that any of the live CDs come with wine, so trying to run a Windows program may be difficult.

From memory, you can make a persistant /home (they might call it something else?) with knoppix.

To look into that you'd have to check things out at the knoppix forums or there's access to the knoppix doc's at the top of the forum index.

Probably a good place to start.
