live boot problem


I recently downloaded a knoppix live iso image to try a different os from windows(very impressed)The cd boots ok on my daughters computer and on my work machine,but I cannot boot my machine with it!My bios is set up to boot from cd.can anyone help?

Nothing happens it just boots straight into windows(xp pro sp2)

the light on the cd-rom drive doesn't even blink once??

are you sure it's set so it boots off cd

yeah cuz the light should blink when the bios checks for a cd in the drive...

no its a cdr (datawrite 52x)

My system does the same thing if I warm boot. It goes straight to LiLo even if I have a bootable CD in my drive. I have to shut down/cold boot. Try shutting down then boot the CD...

do you have an option when your computer first starts like "esc" to choose which device to boot from? if so.. hit that and pick the cd drive obviously and see if it boots, if not you probably didn't burn the disc image properly.. it working on two other machines but not yours rules that out but eh, double check bios i guess, and try to pick that specific device

he did say that the windows cd boots fine...
