Would it be hard to post the list of default users/groups here? for a new admin, it's a logical question whether these can or can't be deleted, especially if some things like irc aren't used. From this thread, now I know that it's better not to try to pare down the list too much. But, I still need to delete old users from the system. I'd rather not delete a system one accidentally.

System users usually have user ids (and to some extent group ids) that are less than 500 (or 1000 on some systems). Thats how I can tell whether an account is a system account or a normal user account.
