/lip/cpp error when (trying) to compile

hi all, when i try to ./configure i get this error:

Code:
checking how to run the C preprocessor... /lib/cpp
configure: error: C preprocessor "/lib/cpp" fails sanity check
See `config.log' for more details.
ive checked config.log and the following section seems relevant:

Code:
configure:3108: checking how to run the C preprocessor
configure:3144: gcc -E conftest.c
In file included from /usr/include/bits/posix1_lim.h:126,
                 from /usr/include/limits.h:144,
                 from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-slackware-linux/3.2.3/include/limits.h:132,
                 from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-slackware-linux/3.2.3/include/syslimits.h:7,
                 from /usr/lib/gcc-lib/i486-slackware-linux/3.2.3/include/limits.h:11,
                 from configure:3141:
/usr/include/bits/local_lim.h:36:26: linux/limits.h: No such file or directory
configure:3150: $? = 1
configure: failed program was:
| #line 3130 "configure"
| /* confdefs.h. */
|
| #define PACKAGE_NAME ""
| #define PACKAGE_TARNAME ""
| #define PACKAGE_VERSION ""
| #define PACKAGE_STRING ""
| #define PACKAGE_BUGREPORT ""
| #define PACKAGE "plastik"
| #define VERSION "0.3.9"
| /* end confdefs.h. */
| #ifdef __STDC__
| # include <limits.h>
| #else
| # include <assert.h>
| #endif
| Syntax error
im slightly out of my depth on this one, so i understand the c precompiler should just be gcc -E...i reinstalled my gcc package in case that was the problem but to no joy. any tips? im not really sure at all on what to do from this point on. BTW..this happens on 3 ./configures ive tried so far, all KDE skins

cheers in advance for any help

Try to search for the file limits.h and check if it is in the path that the configure is looking for, so could be possible to create a link at this locatiion or modify the configure to search the right location ...
