I understand this thread is solved but thought I would post any ways I'm in need of some information regarding my Dell XP driver not being reconnized in Zorin and Mint, I continue to get this terminal error when I try and run sudo----sudo apt-get install firmware-b43-installer
dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'sudo dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. What does this mean? Thanks, David |

It's giving you the exact command you need to run to fix the problem.

It may disconnect while configuring but the packages have already been downloaded.
If it doesn't reconnect then use the ifup command. |
I just noticed the segmentation fault need to do a little searching for that error.

Broadcom drivers are always a pain. If this doesnt work, try downgrading the kernel to an older version and test that out.

Hello,
I decided to take advice from another source on here regarding trying another operating system. So I download (PCLinuxOS LXDE )onto a CD and now I'm running it form there, Live. I'm searching for drivers for dell windows wireless but am seeing a few but not the right ones that need to be working as of yet. Now there are many updates not sure if the driver would included I'm not that comfortable downloading or even knowing what to do since running off of a live CD.I was told since this is a more out of the box OS it would be easier to configure however just where would I get the drivers from? |
When using Zorin or Mint and even Ubuntu there is a sytem settings under their software sources fro additional drivers. Have you looked there at all? When I had a laptop with a Boradcom chip it was always found in the additional drivers tab and I installed from there. Both Zorin and Mint can do this. Of course it is easier if you can get a wired connection to at least get the drivers installed.

@jkirchner----I'm on wired connection but the issues I'm having is when I do an update the wired connection disconnects, I'm not sure why this happens and it's on both laptops, this one I'm using is Gateway with Linux Mint 17 and the other is Dell with Zorin OS. I have the same issue with both...unable to retrieve any drivers or updates. I just recently downloaded PCLinuxOS on a CD and gave it a spin but can't seem to locate any drivers for it....

Have you tried the additional drivers yet? I understand you may disconnect, but I am curious if you've tried using what Zorin and Ubuntu give you? I have never had an issue using it that way which is why I have asked. And, are you trying with it installed or running live?

just a thought, is this a laptop and have you checked rfkill? It is related to the wireless kill button on a laptop?

I don't see any additional drivers if I did I would try one of them but nothing offered. Driver manager shows only one that the system is using. For running live these OS's are installed on the system now I did do a partician before installing next to XP OS however I have not been able to locate the XP OS on here it will not show them and I have no way of locating them. The Mint and Zorin both start up as a regular OS and not giving me the option of selecting what system to use, another issue... Do you know of a option I need to select maybe I don't know of on the menu maybe something I'm missing...again I'm a newbie here.
