Linux useful commands
Hi
I am new to Linux and I am using a Debian distribution. I would like a walk through the command line if possible. I do not know a lot of commands. So far I know the ifconfig command, I also know that I can use 'man {command}'. I would like to learn of more networking commands. Thank you in advance. |

When you say "a Debian distribution", do you mean Debian or a derivative?
Debian has the Debian Reference http://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ which may also be installed for offline reading. That is a good place to start. It includes many basic instructions as well as Debian specific and system maintenance instructions. |

The default command shell in Linux is bash (although others such as tcsh are well supported). Most commands are therefore common accross all distros. Here is a cheat sheet that's rather more distro agnostic than the one posted above.
