Smile linux/ubunto newbie

hi! am a newbie on linux, am using ubunto.. these are some of my typical software/activity on windows... am sure ubunto has all software for this...please advise...tnx!
-mp3 player
-video player
-mp3 converter
-video converter
-disc burning
-disc copying
-file downloader
-mp3 reziser

--and am using SMARTBRO to connect on the internet...and my ubunto did not automatically detect my modem which in windows automatically detected and installed it...
tnx a lot!

all the above listed softwares are available in ubuntu(not sure about the converter and resizer). these packages dont come by default with ubuntu. you have to download it from the ubuntu repositories assuming that you can connect to the internet when in ubuntu..
