linux text install won't boot

I have used Mandrake and Redhat (both graphical installers)and i haven't been as happy with them as i could be. So idecided to give a different distro a try. Lunar, source mage, and Sorcerer, well, i go through the installs for each of therm and it goes fine. i set up Lilo and everything, no errors. It is then time to reboot and i do it. well on the reboot it checks cd for boot none, floppy for boot, none then i get a line that says Grub. can't type anything in, can't do anything but hold in the power switch and reinstall redaht. I've tried all three of these b/c i thought maybe i would have better luck with a diff one, so i am assuming i am doing something wrong, i follow the install instructions verbatum. any ideas?

Your redhat put grub in the mbr, now your new distros are trying to put lilo as the
loader, but (obviously) not overwriting grub in the mbr. You should be able to tell
lilo to load into the mbr. Worst case, boot a DOS floppy and 'fdisk /mbr' to reset it,
then re-install your new flavor of linux.
