can i run linux softwares in windows.

Some software have Windows-ports such as vim and emacs. You can also use Cygwin to run linux applications.

If you have the memory to spare, you could run CoLinux. That would let you run both Windows and Linux applications under Windows, without the additional delay associated with virtual machines such as VMware.

However, I'd normally think about getting a windows port of the application. In some cases the windows port has more features and a better GUI that the native application because they're targeting a audience with different expectations.
