Linux setup help.....PLEASE.

hello all,

I am trying to restore an XP box, running linux instead. Here lies the prob. I can't get anything to install over the current config. I tried to restore the XP settings, formatting with the XP disk, however it would snag on the file. The XP disk is scratched and I am not going to buy another copy just for that POS. I have tried to use other software to format and it halts telling me there is a problem with the file (duh) I don't have a way to make a floppy, other system don't have a FDD, only CDs. What can I do?

The old system is a P3 750, 384mb RAM, 320GB HD.

Next drama, What platform, I have Fedora burned onto cds, and I have Mandrake burned onto cd. The box is going to have to be kid friendly / PC (the sims) game friendly, do I have a prayer?

Welcome to the forum.

I got the feeling you can borrow another similar XP disk from a friend but use your own product key to restore XP.
