Linux Redhat - g++ missing (cannot install visual studio)

I am new to Linux. I am using Redhat Enterprise Linux 5.7 i386 32-bit computer. I installed Linux using VMware. When I tried installing Visual Studio, it says that

"g++ is missing"

I tried so many options in this forum like
yum install gcc-g++
yum install gcc
etc etc. nothing works.

Whatever I do, it gives me an annoying message that "some dependencies are missing". I have been trying this non-stop for three days. No progress. It will be great if anyone can help me out.

Thanks!

yum groupinstall "Development Tools"

If that doesn't work, you kind of need to post the entire annoying message.

Welcome to LQ.

g++ : The package name is 'gcc-c++' : # 'yum search gcc' will show.

But if you can't install plain gcc, I suspect you don't have an account.
Activate the account : Then packages can be installed. ... No account: no yum.

Don't want to pay ? Install the free version of EL5 = CentOS 5:

@knudfl

I bought the linux redhat software actually. For some reason, the subscription certificate not activated yet. I dont know why. Do you think that this is causing the problem?

What do I get from centos.org? Is it the application or complete linux itself? Sorry for the dumb question. I am completely confused with linux installation.

#5 :
CentOS is an exact copy of Redhat EL, created from the EL source packages.
And yes, it's a complete OS.

But you have a Redhat account .... :

When your system is registred in the RHN (Red Hat Network),
you can login to rhn.redhat.com , and activate the software channel on your system.

..

May be the "RHEL Server Optional" channel is required for gcc-c++ ? ?
Please ask 'Redhat Support'.

yes AND no
based on the same source BUT not 100% binary compatible , close but not for everything

the third party built for RHEL/CentOS/SL work BUT NOT ALL ARE COMPATIBLE with RHN

also you can not really use centos-base repo on rhel
the elrepo,rpmusion,ATRpm( be VERY careful with that one)
but you NEED RHN for rhel5.7( beta) so activating it is a MUST .
https://www.redhat.com/support/

now the group name might be a bit different ( a small typo can make a VERY big difference)
a few things
Code:
su -
yum --help
------------
man yum
------------
yum grouplist
