Linux Partition Req's
 

Can I install linux to an extended partition? My First partition is primary(win XP), my second is extended(data) and Red Hat 9 wants to create the partitions in the extended unallocated space. Will this work?

Mandrake automatically decided to put three extended partitions on, even though I had enough slots for three primaries and it worked, so I guess yes. I guess they'd be /dev/hda6,7,8. If you mounted your data (ro, I guess) it'd be /dev/hda5.

I've currently got 4 Linux distributions ( consisting of 4 Root partitions ) in the Extended partition.
