Linux partition size

I was wondering if there was a way to shrink an existing linux partition without completely erasing my whole hard drive. I have 100 GB of free space and would like to divide it up into smaller partitions however at the moment i have only one large linux partition.
Thanks in advance!

You could take a look at parted:

As with all of these utilities - make a backup first.
