Linux Online
I'm for the most part a newbie with Linux. Although I dual-boot it with XP and I've tinkered with it a little. I was just wondering how to get online with Linux... I've tried everywhere and I can't figure it out.

How do you connect? Modem, cable, DSL, router?
|
Well... I have DSL through Bellsouth.
But if it wouldn't be too much trouble, could you tell me how to through a modem as well? |
There are 4 links at the top of this page, all to do with setting up your modem, and then connecting.

I really want to know how to get DSL working with linux... is it even possible?
|
I'm using DSL right now. There's really nothing to it. Mandrake should have detected your network card on install. It should have also asked whether you need DHCP or want to assign a static IP.
After that, all you have to do is launch Mozilla, Netscape, or whatever browser comes with Mandrake. If all's well, you should be able to roam free. |
Pretend I know nothing... tell me what to do...
Because the truth is... I really do know nothing. |
If you have a network card, open the Mandrake Control Centre, Network and Internet, Connection, launch the wizard, assume dhcp is used, fill in the answers to each question, and that should be it.
