I had RHEL box that got crashed (dunno how), and is in repair department. I can't survive without linux now, so could anybody please let me know about any light-weight linux flavor which can be downloaded and installed over win-XP 32-bit machine.
I tried WUBI here and download that, but for my disappointment, it is not installing over win-xp 32-bit machine.
Please suggest me as I need to get to Linux mode soon.....
Yes, I want to do the same, as a windows application.
Any idea , why Wubi didn't worked for me , as most of my friends are using this on win-xp here ? But maybe , I am using a 32-bit machine, would make the difference...right?
also have a look at pubuntu if you just want a quick and lite linux environment on windows. i found it to be a bit too slow but it could just be my machine.
a nice thing about it is you can run it runs as a win32 application from a usb drive, so your pubuntu environment can run on any computer without having to reboot or install anything.
i thought wubi doesn't run within windows but create an image file that acts as a virtual partition you can boot into?
The URL you gave to me is working fine, but it do contains a link to download OS.ZIP file.
I spoke with BlueShot support to get that file, but they told me that OS.ZIP file is no longer available for users.
I have already downloaded VMWare Player and PuppyLinux, but according to the link, I can't go ahead untill unless I have OS.ZIP file. Do you have that file with you, or is there any other plce from where I can download that file ?
In case if I didn't get this file, then IS there a way where I can set this Puppy Linux set-up on my win-XP machine ??
Thank you for the help.
I have already downloaded Virtual Box and puppy Linux. While installing Virtual Box, it shows that it will disconnect me from the network. I can't do that as it is the office PC and I can't get out of network for any installation.
Is this warning message is real , or just a fluke ?
It's now fluke, VirtualBox has to disconnect you from the network in order to create virtual network cards. After that you'll be automatically reconnected. Without this step it would be impossible to communicate with your virtual machines other than using the console in the VirtualBox window.

Hi eric,
Thank You very much for the information.
Should I go ahead if this is going to reconnect me back with the company's network. I didn't get the concept behind , and that is why got confused with this. i don't want this to become an issue, so being a bit careful before playing with network.
