which distribution to choose slackware so that it runs on this processor?

tried the gentoo i386 minimal installer. but everything hangs and loading does not go

The main question is, how much memory ? 667mhz should be fine with Linux, but the memory can be a problem. I find if less than 2 gig you may run into issue with X based utilities. Maybe try something like puppy(?)

But, for 32 bit machines with limited memory, I'd go with NetBSD or OpenBSD. Both seem good in low memory situations and you get the benefit of 2038 support.

need to run at least something. This board turns out to work with any operating system.

Maybe give SliTaz or Tiny Core Linux a try. :)
