Hello and Welcome to LinuxQuestions,

The one that detects YOUR hardware is best for you. Give some of them a try to see if they suit your needs and detect your hardware, you can install lots of LiveCD/DVD to USB using Unetbootin. One example that has a 'Install to USB' option and a personal favorite is Knoppix which is great for professional sysadmins.

Kind regards,

Eric

DSL is a nice lightweight alternative...

TobiSGD 02-22-2011 09:59 AM

DSL is more than 2 years old, I doubt that is has the latest drivers.

@rajeshreea: It depends on what you want to do with that install. Do you want to have a full desktop, is it for system administration or forensic use, do you want to do penetration testing?
Give us more info, so that we can better help you.

Puppy and Fluppy are good for USB sticks. They are lightweight and generally support a lot of hardware, especially Fluppy.

SLAX is no longer developed. So, may have troubles with newer hardware.
You may wish to have a look at Porteus http://porteus.org/ which is ex-SLAX-remix.

Then my second choice would have to be RIPLinux.

Fluppy was a very good call.
Never heard of it before...
