Linux on removable Hard Drive

I have a toshiba Satellite Laptop
I would like to install Mandrake 10.1 on an USB external hard disc as I have no space
is this possible ??

As long as you can boot from the disk, you should be able to run Linux from it,... However, Installing it to the disk might be a bit of a hassle.
