Unhappy linux on ps3 startx to blank screen help

ok i installed linux yellowdog 5.0 on my ps3 and i got through the load to the root9 screen where i have read to put startx in and i get a blank screen and can do nothing but cnt,alt delete,,,to restart,,i tried hitting setup but could not find anything there that would help,,,thanks in advance

thanks for that site,,it got me up in running,,not sure what the prob was but i reinstalled three times and kept to the directions and it started working great,,,
now i need to figure out how to open my nes emulators on it,,i have never used linux,,so this should be fun;;;
