linux on a windows server -printing etc...SAMBA?
hi i want to have linux running on our server at uni so that i can use the printer and network, how can i do this i have downloaded samba but have no idea what to do with it?
thanks andy |
in smb.conf:
# if you want to automatically load your printer list rather # than setting them up individually then you'll need this printcap name = /etc/printcap load printers = yes then add the printer on your windows clients |
http://k12linux.mesd.k12.or.us/using_samba/ this is a link to the O'Reily book, Using Samba, it also comes with Samba (or atleast it was on my RH7.3 CD). I believe the version discussed in the book is older than the current version (im' sure it is) but i'd still recommend reading it. I stayed up all night reading the sections on setting samba up as an NT Primary Domain Controller.
