linux not working well
hello,
i have currently installed fedora core 3 on my intel based computer. when after installation i entered startx it showed a window full of scattered graphics.i switched off my computer thru cpu .now when i start linux ,after a few seconds it stucks up and the doesnt even reaches the login prompt.iam confused please help me........... |
If you shut down linux improperly the next time you boot it wants to check the file systems because they were no cleanly un-mounted...
If you have a graphical login then I think you can hit F2 to see a verbose output and see that it is checking the partitions... After that it will want to reboot again. It's probably a video driver problem... If you can get back to the console login as "root" and run: xf86config or xorgconfig and go through the setup for your monitor and video card information. If you get a scrambled screen don't just shut down... It will probably dump you back to the console or you can Ctrl+Alt+Backspace to get out ot X... KC |
