Linux newbie trying to get on Aliant High Speed DSL with Mandrake 10.0

Hi, I recently installed Mandrake 10.0 on another machine after trying out the bootable version of Mandrake. I use Aliant High Speed DSL, and it works fine with Windows and with the bootable version of Mandrake, but I just can't get it to work with Mandrake 10.0. This uses PPPoE, and you need to connect with a username and password. I've tried going into the Configuring your computer section and trying every setting I could, and it also asked me to set up my Internet connection during setup. Like I said, it worked on the bootable Mandrake so it shouldn't be an incompatibility thing. I'm familiar with Windows and MS-DOS, but Linux is very new to me. I wanted to try this out because I was hoping Linux could be a smoother and easier operating system to use, but I'm mostly getting headaches with this one.
