linux mint on an HP netbook. Screen brightness issues, i feel pretty stupid.
So here's the deal. My girlfriend and I are in a foreign country looking for jobs. Our only computer aside from my smartphone is a small HP netbook that I installed Linux mint 14 on a while back. We were editing out resumes today when my girlfriend asked if I could turn the screen brightness up so she could see better. I found the setting in power management and brightness was already at 100% I just couldn't leave well enough alone, and out of curiosity, dragged the slider to 0%
Now the screen is black, the function keys do not work to bring the brightness back up, the setting saved automatically so now every time we turn on the computer all we get is a black screen.
Any ideas or help would be much appreciated. The screen shows everything through booting up, then as soon as the desktop loads (no login) instant blackness.
Sorry this is a dumb question, bug I really need some help on this one.
