Linux Mint is not powering my cooling system HP G56
I have an HP G56 laptop that I installed Linux Mint on. When I booted from a flash drive it seemed to work flawlessly so I mounted it to my hard drive. I decided not to dual boot and somewhere within the first hour after installing Mint, my fan stopped running. From what I have read online so far, I need to download something that has to do with power configuration? I cannot find the correct download and I was hoping that someone could at least point me in the right direction. Though I also wouldn't mind if someone just handed me the information. Either way, I need help. Thanks in advance for any insight.

I don't have Mint installed right now, but try opening the software center or whatever they call it these days and searching for "power management." Also, as I remember, power management settings are somewhere in the control panel as a subcategory of something else, but I can't remember what. Wish I could help more.
This blog post recommends something called TLP, but I don't know anything about it. |
Power Management
Power management took me to the equivalent of windows "Power options" where I could choose how long before it goes to sleep. I went to "drivers" and it was just said that there aren't any proprietary drivers installed. I've heard rumors of supplemental power configuration software but I have no found anything useful. Anybody know of anything?

Open the software center and search power management not the global search
