Linux Mint first boot from usb stuck on blinking cursor

hi guys,
im trying to install linux mint from usb in parallel to windows (dual boot).
i flashed the iso to a usb stick with etcher, then chose the stick in the boot menu.

but after the mainboard logo screen, it gets stuck in a black screen with a blinking cursor in the top left.

what am i doing wrong

Did you verify the download using sha or md5 before writing it to the usb with etcher. Instructions for Mint at the link below. If you have another computer available, you could try booting the usb on it for test purposes. Which windows release are you using?

I am using Windows 10 64bit.

Right now my guess is that the USB stick is broken, so i am trying a different one.
