Only way out of freeze is to hold power button down to shutdown, have tried install os twice w diff vers of flash, same problem Any Experts out there know solutions or commands to fix this? Thanks very much! (LATEST linux firefox browser I am using) |
It could possibly be from your computer overheating.

Don't think so, the 'sensors' command gives me temp of 43 degrees C a bit hotter than win xp.
Don't think I had this problem w mint 9 which I am installing rt now. I might add I always use my laptops w a laptop cooler underneath which cools off the hdr and cpu. 43 even 47 degrees C is within reasonable range, correct? Ubuntu 10.10 never had this freezing problem though it seemed to run a bit hotter than mint 10. Thank you for prompt reply, anyone else? |
You might try configuring it to boot with options apci=off, noapic, and nolapic

How?
How do I do that, can you run the commands for those so I can copy/paste in a terminal
or another easy method? Thank you |

I don't use Mint, but most Linux distro's have a way to pass boot options in at the grub OS selection screen, usually the tab or space key. If you don't see it there, you might boot to the Mint install disc and you should find an option that lets you pass it in there. You might try it there to see if that helps before modifying grub. |
