Linux Mint 10 installation problem

In trying to install Linux Mint 10 from a CD, I get as far as the "Ready when you are..." message and the file copying process is halted at about 90%. I have used the Control Panel to make a source and destination correct. If I inspect the messages on the Install screen, it shows that most files were installed correctly, but there is an indication that processes are still incomplete. Is there a command that should be entered at this command line?

For what it's worth, when I installed Mint 10, I did not encounter anything like that. It installed smoothly.

If you verified the MD5sum before you burned the CD, I would suggest trying another CD blank. If not, try checking the MD5sum.

What Control Panel? Are you booting the computer with the CD in the drive and set to first boot priority to install to a partition on your hard drive? Or, are you installing it with mint4win as a program inside windows?

Linux installation problem

I found hat my CMOS was not holding the selections made for the boot device. I have a system which expects a SATA hard drive and will not accept changes without it. I am using Linux Mint 12 live right now. I will let you know what transpires after the installation attempt when the SATA drive is installed. I have not been successful booting from a USB thumb drive or an external USB hard drive yet. Thx for your reply.
