Linux Mandrake CDROM problems
I realize that i am a newbie... eventhough I would like to give Linux Mandrake a shot..! i have a pioneer cdrom drive and a lite-on burner, i can boot on the Mandrake cd on both drives, but before the installations really starts, the Linux installation gives me the error: "No CD-ROM drives were detected" or something similar...
Anyone tried this before or anyone that can help me with this problem? (disregard any typos) //Beastie |
Could you post the types of your cdrom drives (as much info as possible)?

My LITEONs worked for installation, but I cannot use them to burn CDs or read DVDs.

my cdrom drive is: Pioneer DR-A025 (24x)
burner is: Lite-On LTR-24102B (24x10x40) (thx alot for the fast responses :)) |
anyone ? :(

Pioneer cdroms are reported to cause problems. Try to make ain installation floppy and boot from it, using 'linux hdc=cdrom'. You shoulr replace 'hdc' with the right value, when hda is primary master, hdb is primary slave, hdc is secondary master.

Ok, the case has developped.... i installed Mandrake from my one of my harddrives, but i think I have located the problem now... I have 3 harddrives on an extra controller, and i have 1 burner, 1cdrom drive and 1 harddisk on my onboard controller. Linux can not detect any of the devices i have on my onboard controller, but it can detect the 3 harddrives i have on my extra controller....
I have an Asus motherboard P4B533 Anyone know if there has been reported any problems with this motherboard, or anyone have a solution howto mount the devices i have on my onboard controller? |
