Smile Linux mailbox grabbing my mail before Evolution can download it

Okay, I've searched and searched for a hit on this problem and can't find one. (I'm terrified of asking a "stupid" question, the answer for which is covered in all forums! )

I'm up and running with SuSE 8.2, KDE and using Evolution as my mail browser. Problem is when I connect to my ISP, all my mail ends up in my linux mail box (accessed via the mail command on the command line) and Evolution doesn't get it downloaded. Granted, I can go into mail and use the S command to save each email item to a file and then import each one into Evolution, but obviously, that's not a solution.

What do I need to do to keep linux from dumping my mail into the mail command's mailbox so Evolution can receive it?

Thanks in advance!

In the options for your user recieving mail, set evolution to local mail rather than your poping your isp. Your mail should be in /var/spool/mail/<user> and Evolution will pick it up just fine.

Sounds like this is a solution! Unfortunately, I don't have any idea how to do what you have suggested! I looked at evolution and can't find "options" anywhere. Would you mind telling me in a little greater detail how to do this?

Thanks!

Clickety-click through your stuff. From my inbox folder, I use: Tools>Settings>Mail Accounts>Select user and edit, click Recieving Mail tab and alter settings.

Thanks fancypiper! That did the trick! (Of my long list of things that are "broken", that's the first to be fixed!)

Thanks again!

Mutt does what I want much better than evolution and it doesn't require X I love my trained dog....

# Common e-mail tools
sendmail - postfix - sends mail to local users (and internet when configured correctly)
fetchmail - gets mail from internet accounts (non-Hotmail type)
procmail - sorts and delivers into separate mailboxes
mutt - mail client that sucks less than all the others
